Strung Out on Candlelight

about

This song is a poem about a movie about a novel about a space station and a planet.

The movie was directed by Andrei Tarkovsky
The novel was written by Stanislaw Lem
The space station is called Solyaris
The planet has been awakened and energized by a nuclear probe sent by the scientific team.
The planet has grown a consciousness. It is now a mind.
The mind studies the humans onboard the space station.
The planet studies the humans by recreating humans, animals, or objects dearly missed by the humans, in physical form.
The Solyaris project has sent a psychologist to encounter the planet/ mind and perhaps resolve the situation because almost all the staff has died, disappeared or sequestered themselves in their quarters.
The psychologist's wife has previously committed suicide.
He dreams of her in a passionate and nostalgic dream.
The planet perceives this and materializes her as she appeared in his dream, in a particular dress.
He realizes what has happened and puts her in a rocket and fires it into outer space.
He wakes up the next morning and there is a new embodiment of his memory. She is less human than before.
She has materialized in a dress that has no way out. She is sewn into her dress. He must cut the dress.
She kills herself.
She re-materializes.
He must kill her again.
